Collection of Archaeology

            At present the collection of Archaeology contains over 3500 exhibits. The oldest exhibits date from the Mesolithic period. These are flint objects from Varėna district– Dubičiai, Rudnia, Kaniava, Girežeris village, Senoji Varėna town, as well as these found near the rivers Ūla and Merkys. Total 74 units.

Collection of Numismatics

       The collection of numismatics consists of 13134 coins of the main and auxiliary funds. The accumulation of the collection was started from the first days of the foundation of Dzūkai museum. During World War II most of the exhibits were lost. Therefore, accumulation of the collection was started anew. The exhibits have been coming in different ways: from archaeological excavations, random findings, coins acquired from citizen, etc.

Collection of Bonistics

    The Collection of bonistics contains about 2000 exhibits. It consists of paper money, drafts, obligations, lottery tickets of 19 – 20 cent. Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Soviet Union and other countries of the world. There are also litas of the Republic of Lithuania of the interwar period and temporary money of the re-established Republic of Lithuania.

Collection of Phaleristics

    The collection of phaleristics consists of 664 exhibits of the main and auxiliary funds such as 19 – 20 centuries orders, medals awards and badges from Lithuania, Russia, Poland, Germany and other countries. At present the museum is supplementing the collection with badges from Dzūkija region.

Collection of Photography

The collection of photography is one of the largest in the museum. It contains 6100 exhibits of the main fund and over 7300 photographs and negatives of the auxiliary fund. The photographs of the Republic of Lithuania (1918 – 1940) are considered to have a special value as they reflect the city face of those days: architecture, state holidays and famous public figures of the time.
