Material and Spiritual Culture of Dainava Region

         On June 15,1993 the day of Alytus city, a new exposition hall Material and Spiritual Culture of Dainava Region was opened the authors of which are researcher Saturnina Bubinaitė and painter Kostas Poškus.
        In the background of woven textiles, old monuments of spiritual culture and works of modern artists, panoramic photos of original muniments, restored findings of 16th- 17th cent. from Alytus necropolis, sculptures of Saints, you can feel the way of live and emotional attitude towards the world of an open kind-hearted dzūkas (inhabitant of Southern Lithuania).      
       In this exposition hall you can find exposits from the oldest times to the middle of the 20th century. Visitors are offered access to material and spiritual culture of Dainava region in series: First Inhabitants in Alytus Surroundings; Beginning of Historical Time; Don‘t Have Any Other Gods But Me; Moving Towards Culture of Christian Europe; and Lithuania of Manors and Towns.
